A strong compact grower. Flashy orange- red fall colour and numerous coral pink plumes that turn to silvery plumes in cooler temperatures. Attracts bird and are deer resistant. Have autumn and winter interest. Love the heat! Miscanthus varieties thrive in moist to average , well drained soil. Narrow bladed varieties will tolerate more drought than larger bladed varieties. They like hot summers and lots of sun, most cultivars will only plume (flower) if those conditions are met. They add winter interest if left standing for winter, but need to be pruned in early spring for the new growth.
