Miscanthus varieties thrive in moist to average soil and in full sun. Narrow leaved cultivars can tolerate drought better than wider blades. These grasses like long hot summers and may not bloom in fall in these conditions are not met. They add great winter interest but should be cut down early spring to make way for new growth.

Unique green blades are mottled with horizontal yellow bands. Plumes are coppery-pink turning beige as they age. Excellent when planted near water.
